History
Our history goes back quite a ways.
Strickland Homes has its roots in the early 1970s when Scott Strickland began his career as a trim carpenter. In 1978, Scott saw an opportunity to enter the home building industry and, along with his business partner, founded Commonwealth Custom Home Builders. The company quickly became a leader in the local building market, participating in Homearama and earning accolades for its commitment to quality.
For much of the company’s 30-year history, Alan served as the superintendent. As Scott and his partner approached retirement, they dissolved the company, and in 2010, Scott and Alan launched Strickland Homes. Scott, drawing on his extensive experience, shifted away from day-to-day operations to focus on retirement, while continuing to provide guidance and expertise.
In 2020, Lorraine Carter joined Strickland Homes to help balance the workload and leverage the complementary skill sets of both Alan and Lorraine. Strickland Homes has since earned awards at Homearama in 2012, 2013, and 2015. Today, Alan and Lorraine continue to uphold the high standards of quality and craftsmanship that Scott established when he first entered the industry in 1978.
